Dr. Michael Potnek, an internal medicine provider, was born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He earned his nursing doctorate from Marquette University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and trained in diverse settings, including the Department of Corrections, an urban American Indian health center, and a large urban hospital. He is also a faculty member at Marquette University Graduate School.
Board-certified in adult and geriatric medicine and an HIV specialist certified by the American Association of HIV Medicine, Dr. Potnek practices general primary care and has additional experience and interests in geriatrics, diabetes, kidney and lung disease, hepatitis C, Gender Affirming Care, and weight loss management.
Dr. Potnek is passionate about optimizing his patients' health and wellness through a collaborative partnership, viewing his role as both a resource and a coach. He helps patients identify their health goals and devises personalized plans to achieve them, emphasizing culturally sensitive care and empowering patients through health education.
In his spare time, Dr. Potnek enjoys fishing, working on cars, playing video and tabletop games, reading, and spending time with his family. He is excited to be part of the Beloit Area Community Health Center and values working with a fantastic team of practitioners.
